Bachelor of Musical Arts in Lyric Theatre (BMA)
Lyric Theatre prepares performers for the demands of the 21st-century musical stage. Students will be trained in a broad range of musical styles including opera, musical theatre, and new works. While offering a myriad of performing opportunities, this program prioritizes healthy singing and versatility. In addition to receiving the highest quality of musical education, Lyric Theatre students will be able to choose between two degree concentrations, Creative and Performance. Courses for the Performance Concentration includes weekly voice lessons, musical theatre dance, and improvisation for acting, music, and movement.
Audition Requirements
Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (BM)
The Bachelor of Vocal Music in Performance prepares students for careers in performance and studio teaching, as well as for graduate level study in performance. This major offers comprehensive course work in solo and ensemble literature and emphasizes public performance.
The voice faculty, comprised of expert teachers, each of whom has enjoyed a distinguished performing career, is involved in the development of all students, regardless of studio assignments. Our faculty members share their expertise not only in the performance of opera, operetta, choral/oratorio, musical theatre, but also in art song, the knowledge and appreciation of which holds a special place in the program and has traditionally been stressed and passed on in song literature classes and recital requirements.
