A Summer to Sing About!

Our season may be over, but you can catch our students performing all over Illinois, the Midwest, and the world this summer!

Anna Benoit (BMA ‘21) will spend her summer at Ozark Actors Theatre in Rolla, Missouri performing in their productions of My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, and Our Town. She will also be an acting/teaching artist for their Broadway Bound summer camp.
Lisa Buhelos (BM ‘20) will participate in the AIMS vocal training program in Graz, Austria
Sophia Byrd (BMA ‘21) will travel to Sandusky, Ohio for the summer to perform in Cedar Point’s mainstage show Beach Blanket Beagle.

Caitlin Hennessy (BM ‘20) will perform the 2nd Woodsprite in Rusalka with a program in Portland, Oregon
Ryan Johnson (MM ‘19) will spend his summer as a Gerdine Young Artist with the Opera Theatre of St Louis.
Scott Knier (BM Comp ‘20) will premiere two new works this summer. His new musical Game Show will premiere as a part of the London Music Theatre Festival and his one-act opera MadHouse will premiere at the Vienna Summer Music Festival
Thereza Lituma (BM ‘19) will spend June as a Project Inclusion Voice Fellow with the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois.

Anna Lowery (BM ‘21) will be participating in the Scuola Italia for Young Opera Singers program in Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy.
Michael McAndrew (DMA) will return to Quebec, Canada this summer as a staff vocal coach / pianist with Songe d’été en Musique: Midsummer Music Dream Festival in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.
Caroline McKinzie (BMA ‘21) will be performing the role of Amber in Hairspray at the Legacy Theatre in Springfield, IL. Show dates are June 28-30, July 10-14, 17-21, and 24-28.
Craig Moman (MM ‘20) will travel to Novafeltria, Italy to perform the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto with La Musica Lirica.

\Logan Piker (BMA ‘21) will be performing the role of Louise in Gypsy at Prairie Fire Theatre in Bloomington, Illinois from June 13 - 16.
Geoffrey Schmelzer (BM ‘21) will sing Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with the Manhattan Opera Studio in New York City followed by Schaunard in the Midwest Institute of Opera's of La Boheme in Bloomington, Illinois.
​Yunji Shim (DMA) will start her summer with St. Petersburg Opera in Florida as the Cio-cio san cover in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. Following, she will be an Art of Song Fellow with the Toronto Summer Music Festival.

.Mady Simanonis (BMA ‘22) will be participating in the Disney College Program as a Character Performer. She will be performing at Walt Disney World in Florida from May 20th through January 2nd.
Grace Thompson (MM ‘19) will be singing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and ensemble in West Side Story at Bay View Music Festival in Traverse Bay, Michigan.
Andrew Turner (MM ‘19) will be an apprentice artist with Des Moines Metro Opera singing “Parpingol” in La Boheme and in the chorus of their productions of Bernstein’s Candide and Berg’s Wozzeck.
Rachel Weinfeld (MM ‘19) will be performing with Festival 56 in Princeton, Illinois from June to August in their productions of Othello, Mary Poppins, and Little Women!
